Oster 6-slice Toaster, Could Be an Anchor for a Boat.

Pros: Large capacity.
Cons: We just can't figure out the timer for toast.
The Bottom Line:
This happens to be a necessary evil in our home. We use it and abuse it. It just takes too long to get going.
We needed a new toaster oven. The fact is we use it for toast, English muffins, heating up bagels and left over pizza.
This was fairly inexpensive at about $40. The problem is it takes too long to heat up!!.
This has a 60 minute timer on it and sometimes it seems to take that long for a piece of toast to get done. I rarely use the thing and because I do not know exactly how long it takes to do the job, I'm always opening it up to see if it's ready yet. This is particularly true with English Muffins.
I like mine light but crisp. I open the thing to check, it's barely above room temperature. I open it again and it is starting to heat up. I do it again and I feel a slight crispness. I close it and open it again and it's burned to a crisp!!
Some Features
OK, the rant is over. The thing does have a crumb tray. It collects crumbs very nicely. The problem it has is that once the crumbs get over an inch thick, it doesn't want to open any longer. I'm trying to get one of the kids to take care of it someday. The good thing is that once the crumbs, oils and whatever build up enough a fire can start, and it did. This cleans out all the crumbs. I suppose that was our fault this happened and not the units, but do be aware, clean it out or it can catch on fire!
If you do go after the crumbs etc daily or so, the tray opens easily and cleans easily.
The oven has a little red light that goes on when you turn on the unit. This is a good reminder because it has saved us on electric bills and possible fires.
This Oster Toaster oven is considered a six slicer. It will do the trick. The slices will be butting against each other. What I don't like is that the toast has to go in three deep side by side. Reaching in for those last slices always seems to get me scarred on the top of my hands.
The depth of the toaster is 14" deep x 12 1/2" high x 201/2" wide.
It happens to be a smart looking toaster oven and has a dial that can be set to Broil, Bake, Toast and Warm.
The Temperature can be set anywhere up to 450 degrees F.
I mentioned the timer can be set to 60 minutes. It also can be placed into the Stay On position. I suppose this is when doing a 20 lb turkey. Mmm, sorry that size probably will not fit in this toaster oven even if you move the tray to its lowest setting. There are two.
The front glass has a smoky look to it. I'm not sure if that is by design or from use in our home. It does clean easily whenever we get around to it.
Final Thoughts
All in all, everybody uses this appliance with different results. I will say we have burned much too many slices of this and that in this unit. I believe it's mostly because of the long heat up time. It slowly builds up heat and then the moment you take your eyes off, POOF!! It's toast! Burned toast.
The front has discoloured because of our abuse of the machine. The heat has browned the front top opening area just above the door. We sometimes leave it open once the heat is in the unit so we can monitor the toast or whatever. Our unit used to be a bright appliance white. Some of it still is.
Oh yes, this unit comes with a bell that has a pleasing sound and loud enough that this hard of hearing guy can hear it.
I wonder if that bell is to call in the fire department.
