Pros: Picture is just too good in HD. Price is awesome.
Cons: Thick. It is still a projection (24" inches deep) TV. Not DLP.
The Bottom Line:
I do not have a bad 'after buy taste' in my mouth. Worth every penny.
I do not like the onus of being the first reviewer, but I will do my due diligence. I was really big on spending under 2k for a TV that was HD and was manufactured by a reputable company. After going to the store with dreams of DLP in my head, the sticker prices' soon taught be to be realistic. When I saw the HD picture on the Hitachi, I was in awe. Not because it was much better or worse than the two DLPs beside it, but the view price. I really thought it was a mis-print. I came from a 60" Mitsubishi 4:3 that was good "THEN", but this is really a whole new ballgame. I think this is a great (BIG HD) TV for those looking to spend under 2000 (easy.. I paid right around 1650/pre-tax). It also has 2 Component Ins, an HDMI in, and that was more than the equals for (price) other brands.
My use pattern is about @ TV - @ movies - and gaming. Once I got component cables for my Playstation, I just sat back and drooled. Tiger Woods 2005 on the 57" screen is really worth the $70 bucks in cables... TRUST ME. A whole new appreciation for HD, once I got it home. The same WOW effect Dolby Digital and DTS had on me 7 years ago, when they hit the audio side of things.
