Although Jeep got plenty of attention for the Rescue concept vehicle that debuted in Detroit earlier this year, no one figured anything like it would ever see a showroom floor. Recent spy photos suggest otherwise, however, as the prototypes bear the same kind of boxy, over the top styling as the concept. Built on the same platform as the new Grand Cherokee, the Commander will be slightly larger and incorporate a third row of seats. Hemi power will no doubt be part of the package along with plenty of built in off road ability.

jeep commander....never again

Pros: uconnect
Cons: too many repairs to list
The Bottom Line:
I wouldn't recommend it to anyone. It has way too many problems, poor gas mileage, isn't as roomy as other SUVs, etc
I've also had the ignition problem another reviewer mentioned, it won't catch and you have to try two or three times. I have the fully loaded 4x4, 5.7l engine with hemi. I've never been able to get even 14 mpg even though I drive like a grandmother. In just one year this car has had: one recall--something in the braking system, I've also had to change out the rear differential, have the rack and pinion replaced, I have had multiple problems with a sensor in the 4 wheel drive system (I've never been off road or even used the 4x4 option). If all four of my children are in the car it is very difficult to see out the back window when trying to back up and the side windows are even worse. There is no room in the third row--my 4 and 5 year olds are the only ones who can sit back there without being cramped. There is no storage space if you have a large family and need to use the third row for seating. Last night, for no apparent reason, the car wouldn't even start. Although I have the latest gps disc according to the dealer, streets that have been here now for three years are not on the maps. If you get a 4x4 with a hemi, be prepared to pay big bucks for regular major services. I hate it.
