Let me begin by saying that never in my wildest dreams did I ever see myself driving a Hyundai. I can remember quite a few years back doing repairs to a Hyundai pony that belonged to my son's girlfriend. I thought it was the worst piece of automotive garbage I had ever seen.
Fast forward to the present. Myself and two others were in Georgia on business in Dec 05 and we had an 06 Sonata as a rental. We were so surpised at how well it drove we had to get out at the first rest stop and give it a thorough going over. I was impressed to say the least. It was a six cylinder GLS and I was really surprised at how well it was equipped. When I returned home to Canada I started looking for information on the Sonata and it appeared I was not the only one that was impress. Anyway, long story short, I just bought a 06 Sonata LX (in Canada that is the top of the line model sometimes called the premium). I have driven nothing but Mazda since 1985 and up until last night owned three (97 Millenia, 02 Protege for the wife and 00 Miata for my summer toy). The Millenia just went in as a trade and I can hardly wait to get back into a Sonata. The Sonata is not a sports car and doesn't try to be. They may have shamelessly stolen ideas from other manufacturers but the end justifies the means. Where else can you get a car this well equipped for the price and a super warranty to boot.
