2006 Sonata Hits Home Run!!!

Pros: Clean lines, Smooth finish, Power of V-6, Comfortable drive.
Cons: Possibly could use a little more undercarriage noise protection, but it's not bad.
The Bottom Line:
Test drive any other vehicle, then test drive the Sonata. You will leave the others behind.
I had been looking for a mid-size car for a few months now. I test drove several of the midsize class of cars. Honda Accord, Mazda 6, Mitsubishi Galant, and didn't even consider the Hyundai. That was before I found out about the 2006 model. I ran down to the dealer and they had none of them in yet. I waited and waited. Finally they got two of them in which were only the 4 cylinder models. I wanted the V-6, but chose to test drive the smaller engine version. I was actually pretty impressed, with this model. The power was sufficient, and found out that it was within 5 or 10 HP of the previous years V-6. It was quiet, and the handling was right down my alley.
Still wanting the V-6, at least a test drive of it I continued to wait. I ended up going to Phoenix on a short trip and decided to see if any of the dealers had any V-6 models, specifically the LX V-6. I found one and we went and drove it.
SOLD I was absolutley amazed at this model. Interior was plush, comfortable, and relaxing. Seats were neither too hard or too soft. It was very pleasing to the eye. The LX features chrome accents on the exterior as well as coming with 17 inch 5 spoke alloy wheels. I think it has a very distinguished look. The only thing I had a hard time with the exterior styling was the front end. I thought it was kind of big looking, ala the Santa Fe, however the more I see it the better I like it. It fits the car.
As far as the test drive went, I was impressed. The V-6 has a 3.3 liter 235 HP aluminum engine. It hauls! I have since compared it to the other cars in it's class, Accord, Mazda 6, etc., and I can't find any reason to think the they have a leg up on the Sonata. I liked the ride fit and feel of the Sonata, much better than any of the others I tested.
With the V-6 models being now built in Alabama USA, I really think it is here to stay, and compete. Their sales have increased faster than any other car company.
The safety features that come standard on the 06 Sonata, set it apart from any in it's class, and the price is right.
My local dealer still being unable to get the LX model I wanted, I went to Las Vegas, and found just the one. Sun roof, color. It's a beautiful thing. Purchased the day we found the one we were looking for.
No regrets Since our purchase both my wife and I continue to be pleased, and are glad that we took the time to get what we wanted. Honda will have to try harder next time if they want our business.
