Excellent Vehicle -- S60 T5

Author's Rating: Rating: 5/5 stars

Pros: - Acceleration (T5), safety, reliability, style, color (Platinum Green), overall fun (manual trans)

Cons: - ergonomics (steering wheel height), Rear seat room (For Adults)

The Bottom Line:
Great investment for a small family! Get the T5 and feel the thrust!

Author's Review
My wife bought this car for herself. It is slightly bigger than a BMW 3 series and slightly smaller than a 5 series. She LOVES it! We drove it on the German autobahn and routinely exceeded 125 mph, and felt like you were traveling closer to 80 mph. Rock steady on the straights and curves. We have the S60 T5 w/all options save GPS. We also have it configured with a MANUAL transmission. Some of you would rather have an automatic on a $40,000.00 + vehicle, but the T5 is very "fun" to drive w/ a manual tranny. I just wish it had a supercharger vs. turbo for more immediate thrust! The seats are very supportive and extremely comfortable. Here inlies my gripe. I am 6'2" and weigh 217 lbs. Shoulder room is fine, but the tops of my knees are very close to the steering wheel. I cannot seem to be able to tilt the wheel high enough to aleviate the probem. (I drive an '05, 2500 Ram Diesel) So I sit with the seat farther back than I would like and forget about placing an adult in the seat directly behind me. We have had the vehicle for three years now and the following items have needed to be replaced:

- Power steering pump
- Fuel Door Hinge -- came off in the attendants hand(look was priceless!)

In all a very fun, safe, reliable vehicle. Our infant daughter does fit easily in the rear seat and the trunk is cavernous...easily fitting a stroller and COSTCO groceries!
