The 2005 MINI Cooper is a 2-door, 4-passenger family coupe, sports coupe, convertible, or convertible sports car, available in 4 trims, ranging from the Base to the S Convertible. Upon introduction, the Base is equipped with a standard 1.6-liter, I4, 115-horsepower engine that achieves 28-mpg in the city and 36-mpg on the highway. A 5-speed manual transmission with overdrive is standard, and a variable speed automatic transmission is optional. The S Convertible is equipped with a standard 1.6-liter, I4, 168-horsepower, supercharged engine that achieves 25-mpg in the city and 32-mpg on the highway. A 6-speed manual transmission is standard. A variable speed automatic transmission is optional. The Base has been freshened for 2005. The S Convertible is all-new for 2005.

Pros: Cute, gets lots of attention, reliable, solid

Worth every bit of the wait. The buying experience was great from start to finish, even if we paid sticker. The car itself is a blast, and we've already driven it 8000 miles in 4 months. No problems whatsoever. No squeaks, no glitches. The car is quick- we have the S model and it loves to go. There is a great deal of support provided by aftermarket groups like www.mini2.com, and we've attended some local Mini Motoring events which have been great. Nothing like 25 Minis driving in single file to get peoples attention! We get honks, waves, and smiles. No one has ever flipped me off in this car- it's like there's a road rage free zone around the thing.
