The rear-wheel drive G35 is powered by an advanced, 260-horsepower V6 engine mated to a 5-speed automatic transmission with manual shift mode. The G35’s performance is enhanced by a 4-wheel independent suspension with lightweight aluminum components and highly aerodynamic styling – including a coefficient of drag of just 0.27 and zero degrees of front lift. The G35 is positioned to compete against current popular sport sedans such as the BMW 3-series, Lexus IS300 and recently redesigned Audi A4 3.0. Minimize

As Long As They Make It, I'll Buy It!

Author's Rating: Rating: 5/5 stars

Pros: Speed, Style and Sound (both engine and stereo)

Cons: No seat memory but you'll forget about it once you start the engine

Handling And Control: 5

The Bottom Line:
Scores high in ALL categories. It's fast, comfortable and great-looking. Will get another one when this lease is up...and then another....

Before buying the G35 I bought the Nissan 350Z. I picked up the Z rather impulsively on a Friday and took it back to the dealer on Saturday. I loved to look at the Z, listen to the stereo with subwoofer and continue to look at the Z. So I bought it while engaged in an intensive price negotiation with the salesman, ignoring my "little concerns" about the car. These concerns caused me to return the vehicle in 24 hrs. The Z has very uncomfortable seats (but the G35 has great, supportive, adjustable seats), a bouncy ride (but the G is smooth and keeps the coffee IN the cup), no sunroof or back seat (the G has a roomy back seat and a power sliding/tilt roof), and limited visibility at certain angles (the G has rear windows that aid in visibility).

The most serious crime of the Z is the concave, barely adjustable seats. I have some back issues and a 20 minute ride in the Z brought them all to the surface. The Nissan dealer first suggested I get a lumbar pillow. Thinking that a $34,000 car shouldn't need such a device, I obliged the suggestion anyway. After spending another $10 on the pillow, I found that the seat was too narrow for the pillow to fit into thus causing me to lean forward at about 20 degrees. Realizing that this engineering faux pas could not be fixed, I returned the vehicle and fortunately was still able to do so. Then I went in search of the G.

Heaven, I'm in Heaven...What a perfect car, my dream car! The G has the same engine as the Z (but a couple less horsies since the G is a bit heavier with a longer wheelbase to account for the rear seat) and has great torque. I have the automatic but usually drive it in the clutchless manual model so that I can squeak out every horse in each gear. The sound of this engine just makes me smile! The ride is smooth and the seats can accommodate any driver. (It would be nice if they added a memory seat as there are 3 electric controls for the driver's seat and if someone else drives it you have to spend a few minutes to re-find your perfect settings) Braking is quick and handling is easy. The rear wheel drive makes this car stay in the garage on wintry mornings but I wouldn't want to take it out regardless and risk the chance of someone else sliding into this work of art. The Premium package includes the power sunroof and 6 CD in dash Bose stereo. The 6CD feature is great but they could improve upon the speed with which the CDs change...just a bit on the slow side. Finally, this car is just PRETTY! It has great lines and aerodynamics....I find that people are frequently staring at the car and watching me fly by. You can't help but watch this car. And if you plan to get one, my personal preference/advice is, save some $$ and forego the spoiler. This car doesn't need a spoiler and to put one on takes away its natural lines...it's just overkill. And the DVD Navigation is nice if you find that you get lost a lot or travel to strange places...but if you can find your way around then save more $$ and forget the $1500 DVD/NAV. This is the best vehicle I have ever owned and I will get a new one every 3 years as long as Infiniti has the good sense to continue making it. Happy Trails!
